Building strong foundations for a lifetime of learning — Ages 5 to 11
Children in our primary school are taught in small classes with each class having a class teacher and a highly qualified teaching assistant. Our staff recognise the importance of acting as a consistent, positive role model.
All pupils have daily Maths, English and Reading lessons. They are also taught Personal, Social and Health Education, Religious Studies, Art, Design Technology, Science and The World Around Us. Pupils in Year 2 begin to study a foreign language.
The curriculum is enhanced by subject specialist teachers in Computer Science, Music, PE and Swimming. Children also participate in Forest School in our beautiful woodland area.
In the Junior department we have high expectations of all of our children, both academically and socially. Through a wide range of opportunities we focus on supporting all children to fulfil their potential and thrive in school.
Teachers regularly plan trips to further enhance the curriculum and bring learning to life. We have an active school council as well as digital leaders in each junior class.
Small classes enable teachers to get to know their children well and offer individual care and support. We encourage children to have many interests by providing a wide range of extra-curricular clubs.
Pupils can take part in speech and drama, dance, rugby, football, gymnastics, choir, yoga, netball, chess, fencing, speed stacking, hockey, and swimming. Children also have the option of learning a musical instrument from Year 2.
We follow the National Curriculum and assess children using age-related standardised scores. SATs tests are not taken at the end of Year 6. Specialist primary teachers deliver Maths, English, PSHE and Humanities.
We'd be delighted to show you what we can offer you and your child.
